News-KAPS is the official newsletter of the Kyoto Association of Pinoy Scholars (KAPS), a group of Filipino students-scholars/fellows based at various universities in Kyoto, Japan.

About the April 2008 Issue

Message from the Editor
This issue of News KAPS is so late that I was beginning to wonder if it would come out at all. That is what happens if the editor and lay-out guy is too busy writing his Master thesis. I beg for your apology, dear reader.

News KAPS will be issued two times a year, starting from this issue. One for Spring- Summer, and another for Fall-Winter.

In this issue, aside from the usual updates, News KAPS will be featuring valedictory messages and speeches by KAPS members who already went back to the Philippines. This is our way of paying tribute to their work (academic, social, personal) here in Japan.

There are also two light-hearted pieces. One is about a new lingo that is sweeping KAPS by storm. The other is a tongue-in-cheek observation of what really happens during a typical Japanese zemi or seminar class.

I hope you will enjoy this issue as the previous ones and we hope to make put out the subsequent issues on a more regular basis.
